Startup co-founded by IITian wins Red Herring Asia Top 100 Award!

Voicetap is a start up co-founded by Vivek Khandelwal, a fourth year IIT Bombay student. Voicetap connects individuals seeking knowledge, to relevant experts who can help them instantly. This start up recently won the prestigious Red Herring Asia Top 100 Award. Here Vivek talks about the journey of Voicetap so far:

I can distinctly recall our first team meeting that took place after almost two months of launch on 12^th May 2009. We didn’t really have an office and much to my comfort I convinced everybody to meet up at IIT Bombay. The only accessible place with a whiteboard and markers was the Ecell Office and thanks to Harsh I could get through it very easily. The meeting was a fairly short one, but was a very important point for all of us. About a week later, I was in Delhi and we were configuring our WiFi settings in two small cubicles. Its been close to 8 months since we have been operational, and we have grown from a team of three to 8 , from two small cubicles to a fairly functional office space and most importantly winning the Red Herring Asia Top 100 Award – which not only speaks of the strength of our team, and business model but also the vast capabilities attached with the product.

We have received some great feedback from the early users of Getafixx – Getafixx is a knowledge buddy that resides inside the Gtalk client / Gmail, and you can ask it to connect you to experts on any topic of interest. You don’t need to know the expert, his location or any details –Getafixx will find him, and connect the two of you. The response has been great – even though we launched the private beta less than a week back, we have already got close to 700 experts signed on across various fields.” To use Getafixx, users just have to add getafixx@voicetap.in to their Gtalk client / Gmail buddy list and say “Hi”. Once registered – they can search for whatever they wish to gain knowledge on and will get connected directly to experts who are on the platform. Give it a whirl.
