What Is NEO?

The National Entrepreneurship Olympiad is an initiative of E-Cell IIT Bombay aimed at nurturing young minds on the path to starting up. Through a pan-India Olympiad, you stand to learn the nitty-gritty of entrepreneurship and compete with some of the best minds in the country. NEO presents an opportunity to learn about the business world and apply the knowledge gained over a wide spectrum of question formats.

NEO consists of 3 tracks - Classes 6-8, Classes 9-10 and Classes 11-12. Each track will have its own syllabus and specially designed question paper. The question paper format will comprise of 45 Multiple Choice Questions of a total of 50 marks, to be completed in 1 hour.
The Olympiad is divided into 4 major sections, each designed to target a specific skill-set in an entrepreneur.

Section 1: Logical Reasoning & Numerical Problems - 10 Questions for 1 mark each

Section 2: Knowledge Based - 15 Questions for 1 mark each

Section 3: Case Study & Comprehension type - 15 Questions for 1 mark each

Section 4: Higher Order Thinking Skills - 5 Questions for 2 marks each

Eureka! Junior is divided into two tracks - Classes 6 to 9 and Classes 10 to 12.

Preliminary Workshop 

  1. The workshop would be 1.5 hours long which will cover the basics of Entrepreneurship, Idea Generation and validation.
  2. Content of the Workshop - Basics of Entrepreneurship, Idea Generation and Idea Validation
  3. The workshop will be conducted in Online Mode, the platform and speaker for which will be catered by E-Cell IIT Bombay

Registration

  1. Click on the “ Register” button and use a valid email id to signup. Only the team leader(chosen based on the team’s decision) needs to register. After signing up, you will have to enter all the necessary personal details.
  2. The next step is to fill the Basic Questionnaire, which will be visible after entering the personal details. The Questionnaire is designed to enable the teams to build a basic but complete image of the team’s idea. Each team is expected to answer all the questions in detail.
  3. The answers to the Questionnaire can be saved and edited repeatedly until the Registration Deadline. The last saved answers will be frozen and used for the judging process.

Preliminary Submission

The semifinalists are required to submit a pitch deck before coming to the advanced workshop in IIT Bombay. A pitch deck is a presentation which the participants (in .pptx format) need to submit which should cover the following aspects:

  1. What is the problem that your team is trying to solve?
  2. What is the solution to the problem or how are you trying to solve the problem?
  3. Is there a need to the problem you are trying to solve?
  4. Who are your customers?
  5. Who are in your team and what is the working of each member?

Advance Workshop

  1. The semifinalists will have the opportunity to attend an Advanced Workshop for a more advanced picture and better knowledge of entrepreneurship.
  2. The workshop will be divided into 2 consecutive weekends(mentioned in the timeline). Overall, there will be 4 sessions, each for 1.5-2 hours.
  3. Content for Workshop 1: Business Model Canvas and Pitching; on 12th & 13th Dec
  4. Content for Workshop 2: Team Building and Market Entry; on 19th & 20th Dec
  5. All 4 workshops will be in Online mode

Pitch Deck Submission

  1. Post the Advanced Workshop, the teams will be allowed to submit a final edited version of their Preliminary Submission. This will be using the knowledge and tools they gained in the Advanced Workshop.

Finals

  1. The Finals will be conducted in an online mode. The date for the finals will be announced based on the schedules and regulations conveyed by the Government of India.
  2. The finalists are required to pitch their pitch deck in front of a panel of judges.
  3. More detailed guidelines would be shared by the finalists at a later stage.
  1. The participants can register in a team with a maximum of 3 members.
  2. The participants must be from Classes 6-12. There are 2 tracks of Classes 6-9 and 10-12
  3. Any team from the track for Class 6-9 must have all team members only from Classes 6-9. The same rule applies for the track for Class 10-12.
  4. Entries submitted after the deadline for Phase 3 will not be considered.
  5. The team name cannot be changed after the deadline of Phase 3. However, any change in the name can be done in Phase 4 & 5 by bringing it to our notice, stating the Team ID.
  6. Only the teams that qualify for Phase 4 are eligible for submitting their Pitch Deck
  7. Previous winners are not allowed to participate again this year
  8. The Prize Money Distribution will be subject to E-Cell IIT Bombay.

 

Q. Who can participate?

A. Any student from Classes 6-12 can participate in NEO. 

 

Q. I’m interested in participating but don’t know anything about entrepreneurship. What should I do?

A. We will provide basic resources and information on each topic. This will help you get started on the journey of learning. It is highly recommended that you read all these booklets before the Olympiad.

 

Q. What is the registration fee?

A. Participation in NEO is free of cost for all students.

 

Q. I didn’t attend the preliminary workshop. Can I participate in NEO?

A. YES. The Preliminary Workshop is not a prerequisite for participation in the Olympiad.

 

Q. Where do I find the resources provided by E-Cell IIT Bombay?

A. You can find the Resources and Syllabus of NEO by clicking on the Resources tab.
